Timucin Sahin has been recognized as one of today’s truly unique voices of contemporary jazz music by publications such as San Francisco Bay Guardian, AllaboutJazz, Jazzwise and Jazz-Times as well as by many others.

His unique sound on fretless electric guitar and his emotional content in his composing made him non- comparable and his music almost impossible to categorize.

Born in Turkey in 1973.His adventure with music started rather late in his 16 years of age by playing Rock guitar in high school years.

Timucin moved to the Netherlands in 1992 where he studied jazz guitar at the Hilversum and Amsterdam Conservatories. Here he obtained his 2nd phase masters degree .He studied bachelor’s classical composition at Amsterdam Conservatory and Manhattan School of Music New York.

Sahin has received numerous awards as composer and as guitarist.

In 2001 he was awarded first prize at the prestigious Dutch Jazz Competition with his contemporary jazz trio On the Line. His composition “Occult” earned second prize at the Jur Naessens Music Award in 2002.

Recently in march 2006; Sahin was awarded the 2-nd price in prestigious Deloitte Jazz Award, which was held in Amsterdam where he performed his music with Concertgebouw Jazz Orchestra.

In addition to composing and touring with different projects, he leads his own ensembles that perform his music. He regularly explores solo performances at international festivals. In his solo project “Timucin Sahin - Real Time”, he utilizes live-electronics as well as electric, acoustic fretless guitars.

Timucin teaches music in schools and conservatories worldwide. He shares his concepts about guitar playing and composing in masteclass situations. Notable engagements include: Manhattan School of Music New York (USA), NYU New York (USA), Amsterdam Conservatory (NL), Tilburg Conservatory (NL).

He has composed for and commissioned by Amsterdam Percussion Group,Occult Ensemble,Enric Monfort Ensemble,Ere Lievonen,Verso,Amsterdam Conservatory Symphonic Orchestra,Brisk Quartet,TobeSung and others.
