Ferdi Schukking saxophone
Saxophonist Ferdi Schukking graduated on soprano saxophone with Adri vanVelsen in Maastricht. He also studied composition with Misha Mengelberg in Amsterdam and microtonality by Dr. Rudolf Rasch in Utrecht.
His classical training finds its echo in the 'Delphi Saxophone Quartet, a duo withpianist Bea de Jong and various ad hoc ensembles in which he plays. In his saxophone solo show 'The Meeting' he combines classical and improvised music. He also has a solo CD.
In 1989 he won with Ingeborg van Stiphout (piano) the KRO saxophonecompetition light music and in 1995 he acquired the Dordrecht Jazz Prize with his septet 'Very Shucking.
His Grapefruit 14CMS Jazz ensemble combines jazz and pop music. The program "Nostalgia" with dancer Truusje Graste recounts theconfrontation between dance, movement and music. In response, appeared in 2000 solo album 'Air'. As a studio musician he has collaborated on several other CD productions.
