Het Karnatic Lab Festival is een wereld-, jazz- en contemporain muziekfeest. Artiesten uit de hele wereld kruisen en mengen eigen stijlen met Niet-Westerse muziek. Zo maken wij vernieuwende en altijd verrassende muziek vol toegankelijke experimenten, ontroerende composities, wilde improvisaties en bijzondere ontmoetingen. In zijn 7 de editie lanceert het Karnatic Lab het eigen platenlabel Karnatic Lab Records .

The Karnatic Lab Festival is a world, jazz and contemporary music festival. Artists from around the world cross and fusion their styles with Non-Western music. In this way, innovative and surprising music is created, full of accessible experiments, moving compositions, wild improvisations and unique collisions. For its 7 th edition the Karnatic Lab launches its own record label Karnatic Lab Records .

Unexpected

Karnatic Lab Records is geboren! Karnatic Lab Records brengt debuut cd's uit van Amsterdams nieuwste generatie musici. Voor de lancering laten de artiesten van het label zelf gekozen werk horen. Onverwachts - Unexpected - combineren groepen en musici als Kaida, Susanna Borsch, Deep Fried Angel Fish en Koan muziek met dans, live video, licht effecten en elektronica. Als hoofd act speelt het Axyz Ensemble Añá . Dit massieve percussie concert is gecomponeerd door de Cubaanse componist en Santeria priester Louis Aguirre.

Karnatic Lab Records is born! Karnatic Lab Records releases debut albums of Amsterdam's youngest generation musicians. To celebrate the launch the label's artists play unexpected pieces of their choice. Groups and musicians, such as Kaida, Susanna Borsch, Deep Fried Angel Fish and Koan combine their music with dance, live video, light effects and electronics. The Axyz Ensemble is tonight's main act. Their massive percussion concert Añá is written by the Cuban composer and Santeria priest Louis Aguirre.

Voices

De zaterdagavond zit vol stemmende emotie. Messing met PVC's grensverleggende muzikale reis en de Balkan klanken van Martha Mavroidi maken blij en weemoedig. Boi Akih met snarentovenaar Niels Brouwer roept intieme muzikale landschappen op. Vocaliste Monica Akihary's wortels liggen diep in de Indonesische archipel en zij zingt in de taal en geest van haar voorouders. Weshm slaat bruggen tussen Europa en Noord Afrika, tussen modern en oud, tussen luisteren en beleven. De opzwepende stem van Najib Cherradi is en zorgt voor een trance. Stemmen van ver raken gevoelens dichtbij.

Saturday night at the Bimhuis is filled with vocal emotions. Messing met PVC's boundless musical trip and Martha Mavroidi's sound of the Balkan will make you both happy and melancholy. Boi Akih - with guitar wizard Niels Brouwer - evokes intimate musical landscapes. Vocalist Monica Akihary's roots lie deep within the Indonesian archipelago. She sings both in the language and the spirit of her ancestors. Weshm builds bridges between Europe and Northern Africa, between old and new, between listening and feeling. Najib Cherradi's inciting voice is, and creates a trance. Voices from far touch feelings deep within.

Alternative Chemistry

Het Lab bruist vol borrelende en explosieve experimenten. De chemie tussen Eva van de Poll, Fie Schouten en Elisa Roep is perfect in hun ontdekkingsmissie naar nieuwe muziek die To be Sung heet. De Israëlische Haytham Safia mengt de ud als ragfijn traditioneel snaarinstrument moeiteloos met jazz, flamenco en Balkanmuziek. Spinifex is de nieuwste vorm van alternatieve energie. Dit jazz tentet fuseert wilde improvisaties en funky composities met de klankkleur van tien creatieve beesten.

The Lab foams full of bubbling and explosive experiments. The chemistry between Eva van de Poll, Fie Schouten and Elisa Roep is perfect in their musical discovery mission named: To be Sung. Haytham Safia mixes the traditional sounds of his sheer Ud with jazz, flamenco and Balkan music. Spinifex is the latest form of alternative energy. This Jazz tentet fusions wild improvisations and funky compositions with the timbre of ten creative beasts.
